Prime Time

Fri Nov 20, 2009, 4:29 PM
  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: Method 1
  • Reading: Lotsa Scan data
  • Watching: null
  • Playing: Metroid Prime: Trilogy [Collector's Edition]
  • Eating: Yummy nummy Metroid Meat
  • Drinking: Phazon goop
So there's been yet another delay, but I'm much less pissed off, since I'm the cause.

I have Metroid Prime: Trilogy [Collector's Edition] for ze Wii and I have been kicking the ever loving piss out of it.

See, what I'm doing here is a sort of Metroid Prime Marathon. I'm beating Prime 1, then 2, then 3 on Normal (any %, no time limit, no sequence breaking) Already, I've beaten 1 and 2. Since Trilogy brings Wii controls to the first two games (originally Gamecube games, for those who are unenlightened) I've made an interesting discovery: I kick -far- more ass with Wii controls than with GC controls. Not what I had expected at all :P

Bosses that normally give me trouble (you probably know the ones, but I'm avoiding spoilers so that a certain waffle-like individual can experience them first-hand.) have either been curb-stomped, or at least beaten without dying a single time. I attribute this to the aiming system. With GC controls, Samus's arm would only aim at the lock-on area (you COULD use free-look, but you'd be a sitting duck while doing so, as you can't run around while this is going on) thus limiting where your shots could hit. With the Wii controls, YES, you can still use Lock-On, but that only centers your Visor on the target, leaving your Beam free to aim anywhere in your field of vision, such as traditionally hard to hit weakspots, for example :P

Those out there apprehensive to the Wii controls in Metroid Prime games, listen close. It's pretty rough going until you get used to the system, but once you do, you can get -really- good at it, and those bosses that normally give you hell and a half will get blown away with no problem whatsoever. Give it a shot. I was just as apprehensive as you, but I've learned better :P

This little fact has inspired me to test it's limits. Once Prime 3 is beaten on Normal, I'm going to take a break (get some shit done for a change) and then I'll take the trio on once more, this time in Veteran Difficulty. I'll give you an update after that's done. Once I've done that, it's break-time once more, followed by (DUN DUN DUUUUUN!) Hyper Mode Difficulty. Once that's done, I will have conquered all that is Metroid Prime, and it shall be GLORIOUS!

When this thing breaks, I will be you, you will be me. Let's hope this is short lived and riddled with dizzy.

I don't hate you. I'm actually quite worried for you. The reason I didn't reply to the earlier comment is because I thought it might lock it into place, thus preventing me from hiding it, thus causing potential problems for you.

This kind of thing is better discussed via Notes, though :P

'k. We're going to have to go without you this time, then. Resolve whatever dumbfuckery that caused her to take your laptop, get a new USB charger (see: Wal Mart) and let me know once you do. Be swift.
